First let me say, Yum... Everything looks very delicious!

Living in Gander, NL a lot of the ingredients in this cook book I cannot get, but there are some I could try, for instance Jiggs Dinner, which is something we have here quite a lot, and is vey delicious. But even though I couldn't try all the recipes I was able to look into parts of other cultures with the lovely stories that go with each recipe, I enjoyed reading the stories just as much as I enjoyed looking at all the good food. Also there is a map at the beginning of the book it shows you the different regions and gives you a fair idea of where the ingredients come from, as well as where these dishes are commonly served.

I think this Cook Book is very well put together, I love the color in some of these dishes it just amazes me! for instance Daube of Island Parrot Fish Fillets, So colorful, I want to frame the picture. I think this would be an interesting meal, most likely just as pleasing to the taste buds as it is to the eye. Bamboo rice is something I would like to try, I think I will substitute the bamboo with corn stalks maybe? because I cant get bamboo here in NL. the Mild Pepper Sauce is good, I mix in a little mild hot sauce with it to make a really good Salsa, its delicious. Of course Montreal Poutine is a Favorite of mine, I haven't met anyone yet who doesn't like a good poutine. Penguin pie threw me off a little at first, I like looking at Penguins so much the thought of eating one made me almost sick. But then I thought well we eat Turs, Ducks, Seals, and Rabbits, some people think that's weird, and Now I want to try Penguin Pie, although the meat may very well be hard to come by here.

Being a Sweets person I love the dessert section...My favorite of any cook book! The Baked Banana Mash, Bakewell Pudding, and Ripe Banana Bake, are my favorite ones, I'm making myself Hungry just writing this up. If you are looking for a cook book with some different dishes, and you have a slightly adventurous taste, this is Definitely the cook book for you. Go try it, you really wont regret your decision to try these amazing dishes!

I found these puzzles challenging but not to the point where I got frustrated. For anyone who like word puzzles this book is lovely. I really enjoyed this book, and I found it brought my family together also, as it took all of us at points to figure out some of these words, that was my favorite part of this puzzle book, the time I got to spend doing something constructive with my family. I'd like to thank Theresa for giving me those precious moments.

A little about the Author, Theresa:

She was born in Halifax, NS, but she now resides in Truro, NS (My favorite place in NS), with her Husband. She is the director, human resources with The Chronicle Herald, She graduated from Saint Mary's University, and she volunteers in her company's program with Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia. When she is not Making these fabulous fun puzzles, she enjoys doing everyday things like, running, golf, yoga, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

This book is awesome! I love books that touch on the supernatural, the stories in The Lunenburg Werewolf are not long, so it makes the book very Quick and easy to read. Steve does a fantastic job of telling these stories, and giving them a sense of realism. I love the history he adds at the beginning of  each story, it really makes it come to life.

 

I usually tell you which Story I like best, but honestly I don't think I can choose just one, Although I think "The Lady in Blue" gave me real chills. This summer I spent a lot of time traveling around Canada in an eighteen wheeler, I spent much time at Peggy's cove, so this story really tickled my spine.

 

I highly recommend reading this book, Especially if you like Real Life Ghost Stories. I'm thinking maybe this summer I'll travel Nova Scotia trying to find all the Ghosts.

 

Enjoy this read. I know I did!

Steve learned the tradition of storytelling from his Grandfather, in my opinion he is very good at it. He now carries on the tradition by teaching Nova Scotia children the same art. These books are about 120 pages long each. They are beautifully compiled books of different stories, ones of people being touched by the aid and comfort of Angels in times of need, times of pain, sorrow, sadness... But also in times of happiness, hope and love. These books are broken up into what I would call "testimonies", they are very fast  pace, and they will touch you, no matter who you are there is a story in at least one of these books that will touch your heart. Many have touched mine, but I believe my favorite is from the first Book... it is called "Saving a Soldier", it's about a hero from WWI, he wore a medallion every single day, and because of it he lived! this story really touched my heart because I often on travels where my St. Christopher medallion and I believe it has saved the lives of me and many of my loved ones on our travels. I truly believe miracles can happen, and that the Angels watch over those who seek their aid.

This book is 62 pages long, a great chapter book for children. It follows a young girl named Stephanie Henderson through a tough move, and looks into her relationship with her furry best friend "Fido". She has a hard time at first fitting in at school, but soon, with the help of  Fido, she finds a way to fit in just fine.

Budge Wilson lives in Nova Scotia, She is the Award-winning author of many Children's books.

Terry Roscoe lives in the woods near Annapolis Royal, and as illustrated a few of Budge's books before. Together these two make beautiful Children's books.

The Cat That Barked is a very well done Children's book, it really reflects how a child feels moving from one province to another, and leaving their friends behind, only to go somewhere where they don't know anyone. Being a cat lover, i enjoy the fact that the cat plays a huge part in this book. I think this book is beautiful, it has a great story, and even some cute facts about this great country of ours. I believe this book needs to find it's way into the school system for young children, Two very BIG thumbs up from me :)!  A++

Great book! the writers really knew what they were doing here. Bone Chilling and the type of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Characters that you  will not soon forget.  Sure it has an aspect to it that most books don't have... This book is very graphic. Although some scenes are dirty and make you want to throw the book through the window, in the end you're really glad you read the book. I thank Wodke Hawkinson for their trust in me to allow me to have an ARC of their book to review. I knew in a way I was going to like it before I read it because it sounded a lot like Murder in the Cove, witch was my first look into reading and I loved it. Very good book, would recommend it to anyone who is an adult, and has a strong stomach.
